There’s nothing more powerful than hope

Wow. I cannot believe a year has gone by. This time last year, I was preparing for my first Noonday Collection Trunk Show. A year later, I’ve had the opportunity to do nearly 40 trunk shows. I’ve had the opportunity to share my heart for widows and orphans with hundreds of women in Seattle. I’ve been been able to encourage and support adoptive families. I’ve been able to give generously to ministries caring for orphans and widows all around the world. All by God’s grace. I am so thankful that God has allowed me to share in his work.

Do you remember the Bible verse that inspired Noonday Collection? It comes from Isaiah 58. God promises that when we pour ourselves out to help the hungry and the oppressed, our light will shine like the noonday. This year, I’ve experienced the truth of these words. And friends, I want you to share in this burden, to share in this joy.

In May, I had the opportunity to spend two weeks with the Noonday Collection Artisans in Rwanda. Although this was not my first experience working with our artisans in Africa, it was the most powerful. On this trip, I worked with the designers from Matilda Jane to create a line of four accessories that will be available soon as a part of the Noonday Home Collection. Spending two weeks in Rwanda was life giving. When I first arrived in the country, I was almost overwhelmed trying to imagine the genocide 18 years ago. Walking along the red, muddy roads, I imagined the blood of nearly a million people spilled. How this tiny, beautiful country is being redeemed, however, is nothing short of a miracle. It is a story about a nation going from death to life, from hatred to friendship, from agony to joy. You can read more on my blog and on the Noonday Collection blog. Before I say goodbye to you, I wanted to share the first glimpse of our artisans dancing together just before I had to say goodbye in Rwanda. Matilda Jane gave the artisans new clothes and I took portraits of each beautiful woman. When we return to Rwanda – when, not if – we’ll be bringing the artisans these photos.

There’s nothing more powerful than hope.

From the bottom of my heart, thank you for supporting Noonday Collection over the last year. I hope you are continuing to enjoy the unique jewelry and accessories you have purchased from Noonday Collection. Even more importantly, I hope you continue to be inspired by the stories of our artisans. If you remember anything about Noonday Collection, I hope it will be this: there’s nothing more powerful than hope. Nothing can transform the future for a woman, a family, a neighborhood or a nation like hope. And by shopping with Noonday Collection, you have given hope to hundreds of women around the world. And you have been the pioneers of a movement that will keep giving hope to thousands more.

As the season where God called me to be a Noonday Collection Ambassador is ending, I am thankful that dozens of other women all over the country are stepping up to grow Noonday. I am sad that I will no longer be standing in your living rooms, sharing my heart for women and orphans around the world. I will truly miss this and those of you who have made it possible. Yet I’m excited for the ways God is leading our family – to London and beyond.
