Introducing Gabrielle Sarah

Introducing our beautiful daughter, Gabrielle Sarah.

Gabrielle Sarah was born on October 16, 2010 weighing about 5 pounds and 8 ounces. We met her on February 3, 2011. When we held her for the first time, we knew right away that God was calling us to be her family. We returned to Uganda six weeks later and Gabrielle Sarah was placed in our arms on March 21. Not quite three weeks later, on April 8, we were granted legal guardianship of our beautiful baby girl.

Gabrielle means God is my strength. Sarah means princess. Sarah was the name given to our little girl by her birth mama. We have given her the name Gabrielle because she is strong and determined.

When we met Gabrielle, whom we will call Ella, in February, she still felt very much like a newborn. I fed her a bottle and she fell fast asleep on my chest. When we returned just six weeks later, Ella surprised us! I set her down on a blanket and walked away for a moment. When I returned, she had rolled away and was grinning at me. The next morning when I sat down to eat french toast, she immediately reached out, grabbed the bread and tried to eat it!

Over the last seven weeks, our Strong Princess has continued to surprise us with how quickly she is learning and growing. She is now sitting and is very close to crawling. She does planks and downward dogs. She loves to eat and is enjoying banana, avocado, mango and potato. She is thriving and has gained nearly five pounds since February.

She is stunning. We feel so blessed to be her mom and dad. Her brothers adore her and miss her now that they have returned to Seattle. We can’t wait to be home and for all our friends and family to meet our sweet Ella!
